Introduction

About the IIRC

The name of the Trust is Islamic Inheritance Research Centre (IIRC). The IIRC is based in New Delhi, India. 

The IIRC undertakes the various activities to create awareness in the Muslim society about the Islamic obligation of Distribution of Inheritance after the death of a person or multiple persons in a family.

The Objectives of IIRC

The Objectives of IIRC are:

  • To make the Muslim society aware of Islamic laws of Inheritance. 
  • To introduce Islamic laws of Inheritance in madrasas and other educational institutions. 

Methodology 

To attain the Objectives, the following methodology will be adopted:

  • Efforts will be made to approach the committees of mosques and madrasas and set up Inheritance Distribution Centres there.
  • Muslim-run schools, colleges and universities as well as madrasas will be persuaded to introduce Islamic Laws of Inheritance in their curricula. 
  • All academic and innovative methods, offline and online will be adopted to popularise the learning, teaching and implementation of Islamic laws of Inheritance in the Muslim society.

The Activities of IIRC

The activities of IIRC will be as follows: 

  1. The following points will be discussed with Imams and Khatibs of mosques to ensure programmes are conducted in Muslim societies:
  • Awareness programmes on Islamic Inheritance
  • Running classes on Distribution of Inheritance, Heirs and Their Shares 
  • How it’s beneficial to the society
  • Awarding qualifying mosques, madrasas and individuals
  1. Training programmes (30hr course) will be organised in mosques, madrasas and other centres so that students of any stream may learn the Laws of Inheritance. At the end of the course, examination will be conducted. The qualifying students will be awarded with certificates and persuaded to play their role as resource persons.
  1. An Optional Inheritance Course will be conducted in Muslim-run schools during summer/winter vacations. At the end of the course, examination will be conducted. The qualifying students will be awarded with certificates and shields.
  1. An Inheritance Fair will be organised for people above 18 years of age. It will be competitive and prize-based. The Fair will comprise quiz, poster making, chart drawing, speeches, debates, models, presentations, etc. The Winners will be awarded.
  1. An Inheritance Form will be made available to mosques and madrasas. In case of the death of a person or multiple persons in a family at different points of time, the members of the family will be asked to fill up the form with the name(s) of deceased person(s), the date(s) of such death(s), and the heirs living at the time of such death(s). Then the volunteers of mosques or madrasas or a functionary of the Trust will help the family in calculating and distributing shares of the heirs of the deceased person(s).
